Advocacy training workshop Nigeria

From 11th to 13th of September, a group of 13 persons involved in the Nigerian UAFC Country Programme participated in an advocacy training workshop. This training workshop was organised jointly by UAFC staff from Nigeria (SFH) and the Netherlands (WPF). Objectives of the workshop were to build advocacy capacity among local partners and to start the development of a joint advocacy plan.

One of the assignments of the training workshop, on message delivery and debating skills, turned into a heated debate. Participants however, remained on speaking terms and all agreed that the assignment had been a good lesson about the importance of listening when trying to convince someone, a key aspect of advocacy. A start has been made with the advocacy plan as well. The final draft will be adopted for implementation no later than February 2011. More information can be obtained from the UAFC Advocacy Officer.
