UAFC presents Cameroon Country Programme in Addis Ababa
At the Membership Meeting of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC) on 24 June in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, UAFC Joint Programme will present the UAFC Cameroon country programme. This meeting is the finale of a week of supply-related activities which will be attended by global leaders and other decision-makers on reproductive health.
Members of the reproductive health community will convene in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, from 20 to 24 June 2011, to celebrate a decade of struggle and success in ensuring that women and men around the world can choose, obtain, and use the supplies they need to ensure their reproductive health. The gathering will mark the 10th anniversary of the 2001 Istanbul conference, Meeting the Challenge, which many view as having given rise to today’s global reproductive health commodity security movement.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC) will host a two-day conference, Access for All: Supplying a new decade for reproductive health, where global leaders and other decision-makers will speak out for a reinvigorated effort to ensure RH commodity security and advance the aims of the Coalition’s HANDtoHAND Campaign. Access for All will form the centerpiece of a host of supply-related activities taking place throughout the week. These include a Working Group and other specialized meetings as well as the Coalition’s annual membership meeting on Friday, 24 June.
It is during this Membership Meeting that the UAFC Joint Programme will present the UAFC country programme in Cameroon. This presentation is one of four case studies of a plenary session on successful introduction of new and underused RH technologies. With many donors, international institutions and implementing organizations present, this presentation will hopefully arouse interest in funding and implementing large scale female condom programmes as well as making female condom programming part of policies.
